Popculture highlights from Bella Swan's birth year

Just because one is immortal, it doesn't mean she shouldn't celebrate another year of life. To her chagrin, we're going to point out that today is Bella Swan's 23rd birthday. Happy birthday, Bella!

It's no secret that Bella and her posse of supernatural buds have become quite the pop-culture juggernaut over the past few years, thanks to the success of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight Saga" book series and the three (soon-to-be five!) film adaptations. In honor of Bella's special day, and the impact she's made on what we read and watch, we're looking back at the pop-culture highlights from the year Miss Swan was born: 1987.

In The Theater

The top-grossing movie of 1987 was a little film starring a ton of '80s talent, including Ted Danson, Steve Guttenberg, Tom Selleck and Tom Selleck's mustache. That movie is "Three Men and a Baby." An instant classic if I do say so. In fact, Steve hinted recently that there may be a third "Three Men" flick in the offing. We're definitely keeping our eyes peeled for that one. The cute comedy wasn't the only flick that caught our attention that year, though. Nobody had the moves (or kept Baby out of the corner) better than Patrick Swayze in "Dirty Dancing." Long before "Sex and the City," Kim Cattrall was modeling high fashion in "Mannequin." Kiefer Sutherland was establishing his sex symbol cred in our BITN movie selection "The Lost Boys," and Fred Savage was just being read a bedtime story in "The Princess Bride."
