Stumble Upon: Entertainer of the Year 2010: The Twilight Saga Hits Number 2!
Ah, the ultimate love triangle between vampire, werewolf and human! "The Twilight Saga" cast flies in at No. 2 on "Extra's" Entertainer of the Year list.
Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novels -- about a girl named Bella Swan who falls in love with vampire Edward Cullen, while also forging a close friendship with werewolf Jacob Black -- made the tween set (and their mothers) swoon, launching a literary phenomenon in 2005 on a par with "Harry Potter."
And then came the films. When the first "Twilight" movie was released in 2008, young stars Kristen Stewart ("Bella") and Robert Pattinson ("Edward") were catapulted into teen idol-dom, with hunky Taylor Lautner ("Jacob") following their path in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in 2009.
This past summer, the third film, "Eclipse," opened to huge numbers, grossing over $300 million domestically. The highly anticipated fourth book, "Breaking Dawn," will now be made into two movies, to be released in 2011 and 2012.

'Twilight' movies originally planned to change book completely, make action flick

The original plan for the making of the "Twilight" moves was to completely change Stephenie Meyer's best-selling teen romance novels.
Kristen Stewart's Bella might even have cracked a smile.
Producer Mark Morgan said that before the series became a worldwide sensation, Paramount picked up the rights to the script and wanted to rip apart the seams of the narrative, according to an interview posted on HollywoodLife.com late Thursday.
"They had Bella fighting back. They had her father dying in one of the scripts, actually, and becoming a vampire in the first movie. There were a lot of weird things," Morgan said.
The more faithful movie adaptions have grossed nearly $2 billion at the worldwide box office over three flicks. The two-part finale, "Breaking Dawn," is due out beginning next year.
The films have made stars of Stewart, brooding vampire Robert Pattinson and oft-shirtless werewolf Taylor Lautner.
"They would have gone for something bigger," Morgan said of the original plan. "Boys. More action...one of their drafts literally had a Korean FBI agent who was hunting and tracking vampires across the coast."
"There was SWAT in the trees and literally it was like, 'Red leader, red leader 1' and the vampires were picking them out of the woods."
Morgan said he was glad that Summit Entertainment wound up developing the series, which received mixed reviews from critics for its slow pace and wooden acting.
"[The fans] would have killed us," he admitted. "They would have stoned us."

James Franco says he's facinated by Twilight
Well aren't we all! It seems we have another Twilight convert in our midst! James Franco, of Eat Pray Love, has admitted that the Twilight Series fascinates him, especially the part about Vampire's living in regular society. Maybe we shouldn't get to excited, Franco admits: "I wouldn't say I enjoy them, but I'm fascinated with them. I'm interested in the metaphor of the vampire placed in the high school setting and how a relationship with a vampire can stand in for general feelings that people have as teenagers," he said. "And the obsession people have with that is also fascinating to me."
That being said Franco does go on to say that the Isle of Esme scene in Breaking Dawn did disappoint him slightly because it was too short and very limited...

Rob's Sister Lizzy Talks About Being Part Of The 'Twilight' Score
You all remember this scene.. when we first saw Edward strut into the cafeteria and on to the big screen.
His sister Lizzy sings those lovely vocals you hear in the background, and in a new interview she talks about her experience and contribution to Twilight.
You wrote a song for "Twilight," what is it like hearing your song on film?

You wrote a song for "Twilight," what is it like hearing your song on film?
It wasn't a song as such; I sang ambient background vocals on the film score. My vocals are probably most prominent on the piece 'Who Are They' at the moment Edward Cullen first appears in the cafeteria scene. I recorded the vocals with Carter Burwell and Catherine Hardwicke at Hans Zimmer's studio in Los Angeles and Air Studios in London. They were both such amazing people to work with and it was fascinating to see and hear how much the music affects the mood of the scene. I feel honoured to have been a part of the film, albeit a very small part. It was so much fun!

Stephenie Meyer Reveals The Status Of "The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide"
In another release from the Stephenie Meyer Eclipse fan junket, Twifans.com has gotten the details on progress of The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide - the guidebook which has been on most Twilight fans' pre-order list for years by this point.
"[I]t's continuing," she said, "It just … it keeps evolving. So then we have to catch up … I don't know. I hope that when it comes out, it's amazing. Because it seems like a lot of effort has been put into it at this point. And it is kind of evolving, and 'let's do this, no let's do this'. It's going to have a lot of great information, and it’s really cool. I think my favorites are the genealogy charts for the Quileutes. They are beautiful....they're lovely . . . So it's my mission that this has everything correct. Which would be great. Hopefully, not forever.....to go on it, we'll see. You know....movies interrupt things a lot. Movies are a time-sucker!"

The news of Bree Tanner's release seemed to indicate that the Guide was being worked on, and now that we know Stephenie Meyer's intentions to finish it, there'll be no doubt that the Guide will see the light of day! Still no word on the release date, but this is great news!

Stephenie Meyer Talks Volvos, Sequels with Renesmee, Leah and Edward’s Chivalry
Twilight Series Theories has a great transcription and audio clip of the part of the interview where Stephenie talks about her feelings on the Volvo color change in the movies, the characters she would most like to do sequels with and how she just enjoys writing – not to send out a message or make a point.
Fansite: If you were forced to write a sequel or some novella, which—what character or characters would you do?
SM: If I were to go ahead with sequels, and I think that I’ve already stated this in some book thing, I would tell it from two narrators again, although I think I’d switch back and forth and it would be Nessie and Leah. And you know it’s funny because a lot of people are like—I’ve read a lot of theories about why I felt compelled to have Bella have a baby and there’s only one reason and it’s not because—there isn’t a lot of really negative stuff—it’s not because you know Bella needed to have a baby or anything, it’s because I knew—it was really clear because I’d already done “Forever Dawn”—once Bella becomes a vampire she loses her relatability. But Nessie was created because she was the logical voice, you have someone who’s half-human, half-vampire who doesn’t fit in anywhere and is an outsider in some ways, but then loved and cherished by her family. But all the intricacies—she had so many problems, so many challenges so she was so attractive to me as a narrator. And then Leah, of course, obviously is left open, right? I can’t—I couldn’t solve all the problems in this because I didn’t want to end it. I mean clearly the Volturi, that wasn’t the end, end. I needed to get to an ending spot for now, but you know I…I just couldn’t see them, the Volturi—they’re smart, they’re patient, they’ve been doing this forever—they’re not going to get into this situation and not say, “Oh we need to reevaluate.” It didn’t make sense for me—them as characters to just go ahead with it, for me. But like, Nessie’s supposed to tell the story next and Leah has a story to tell too and so that’s where it would go.

In celebration of its thirtieth anniversary, Variety reports, the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) has chosen thirty of the most significant independent films from the past thirty years, and Twilight received honorable mention.
Movies like Slumdog Millionaire, Juno, Dances With Wolves, and Summit Entertainment's The Hurt Lockerwere chosen among the thirty films considered most significant from the independent film world, and Twilightwas among three to receive honorable mention (others included Bowling For Columbine and Memento).

Kristen Stewart: I 'Had To' Do 'Twilight'
Kristen Stewart reveals that she didn't really have much of a choice when it came to playing the iconic Bella Swan in Twilight.
The 20-year-old actress told Stylist magazine that while she didn't have a big career plan set in her mind when she accepted the major role of Bella, she did feel compelled to sign on for the vampire flick:
It's hard to define exactly why I choose projects, and it's not like I had this brilliant foresight that Twilight would be big. I can only do something I feel like I have to. There's not really a whole lot of choice, but at the same time, I don't have some grand scheme.
Meanwhile, KStew tells the magazine that she also feels compelled to be an actress because she has a lot of "pent-up energy:"
It would be very frustrating [to not be an actress]. I'm not good at anything else. I'm bad with my hands. I can't make stuff. Acting is so self-indulgent and self-reflective and we just think about people and how they deal with one another. That's probably what I'd continue to do! I'd be the over-analytical girl who writes.
Maybe Kristen's feeling of kinship with writers has to do with why she took up a role in On the Road, which is based on Jack Kerouac's beat novel.

MULTIPLE CHOICE: Which 'Twilight Saga' Spin-Off Should Get A Movie Adaptation?
Two big "Twilight Saga"-related rumors came out over the weekend, and we're sorry to say that only one of them could potentially be true. No, Robert Pattinson's rep told MTV News, he will not be guest starring on an episode of "Entourage" (only in our wildest dreams, huh?), but there does seem to be some chance that a "Bree Tanner" spin-off film could be hitting theaters after both parts of "Breaking Dawn" come out. Sadly, the speculation is that it won't be starring Jodelle Ferland.
Whether or not Bree gets her own story depends on the success and reception of "Breaking Dawn" (though "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" is a much more traditional vampire story than the final installments of "Twilight"). Summit could instead choose to take this opportunity to make spin-offs of characters whose stories haven't been told, or maybe even just stop after "Breaking Dawn."
